The Big C Family Cancer Information & Support Centre

The Big C Appeal

Services

  • Counselling – this is available to anyone who has cancer, and/or one relative or carer.
  • Citizens Advice Bureau – These sessions are on Tuesday, and it is advisable to ring beforehand and make an appointment. However there may be some drop-in appointments available on the day.
  • Look Good...Feel Better sessions - The diagnosis of cancer and its treatments can sometimes affect how a woman feels about herself and may result in changes of skin texture and appearance. Ladies attending the workshops enjoy an afternoon of learning about new products and techniques in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. The workshops are run by specially trained beauty professionals. Each participant is also given a gift of products to take away, donated by the cosmetics industry. There is no charge for anyone attending the session. If you would like to attend one of these sessions or you would like further information call the centre on 01603 286113 or pop in and see a member of staff. You can also visit the Look Good...Feel Better Web Site. (Look Good...Feel Better is supported by The Cosmetic, Toiletry and Perfumery Foundation which in turn is supported by most of the national and international cosmetic companies in the UK).
  • Wig Service
  • Relaxation Group – Wednesdays, 11:30am – 12:30pm, for patients with cancer or for those caring for someone with cancer. Places are limited so contact the Centre if you would like to attend.
  • Complementary therapy of reflexology or massage for up to four sessions for a cancer patient and a carer linked to that patient. Sessions are on a Monday and must be booked.
